Taboo-Breaking Gay Artist Show on March 16 LGBT Gallery Tour

One of the 7 exhibits we’ll visit on my Sat. March 16 Gay & Lesbian gallery tour in Chelsea will be an unusually disturbing and fascinating exhibit by a gay male artist – indeed, the most taboo-breaking queer artist exhibit I’ve included on my tour in years!  This show is brand-new and has not been included on any of my previous LGBT tours.  The last queer artist exhibit I’d call “taboo-breaking” was quite a while ago – a video of two men fellating a horse with a very large erection.  This coming exhibit doesn’t involve video or bestiality, but it breaks a different major taboo.  When I took my general public tour to see that show this past weekend, without any advance warning about the nature of the work, there were gasps all around.  And yet several participants voted it their favorite exhibit of the tour.

Another highlight on the March 16 LGBT gallery tour will be a lesbian African artist’s photographs of other African lesbians, images all too rare in this closeted, homophobic region.  Also: a young male bisexual artist’s poignant depictions of a community of runaway youth.  And 4 other exhibits besides those three.

Lots of reasons to see you Saturday, where you’ll also get a chance to socialize with other queer folk who would be drawn to “taboo-breaking” art and much more.
